Musing on July, Hailing August (2020)

11:16 PM

Greetings from the cave!

The seventh month of 2020 is now officially behind us, and it stole my rug.

Well, okay, not literally. But you know that feeling when there is so much going on and so much left undone that you feel just....exhausted? That is July in a nutshell.

Or is it? LOL, let's get to it!

1. The White Rose had a fast-tracked second edit! As part of Camp NaNo (the recap of which will be coming later), I tackled the most pressing of the critiques that the betas gave me in May and June. Unfortunately, I couldn't address all of them as I had promised my editor that I would send the draft at the end of this month. But, it is done, and now the editor has it and I hope that good results come from it!

2. I finally read some new books! Lia came to visit me (details will be on my other blog) and she brought along two books that I have been dying to read: How We Rise by Brooke Riley and 100 Days of Sunlight by Abbie Emmons. I had been dying to read both of them ever since they came out and if you've seen my flailing reviews on Goodreads, you'll know that I enjoyed them very much!

3. New movies have been watched too! Of course, a visit with Lia means that movies are always on the docket. We watched the live action Aladdin (LOVED), The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society (which I didn't expect that I would like, but I LOVED IT), The Man from U.N.C.L.E (which, even for the content, was a great watch), Newsies (a rewatch for both of us) and a high school production of The Music Man (that first musical number on the train *gasp*). Later on in the month, I also rewatched Episodes IV and V from Star Wars because I was on an action kick.

First thing, Catholic Liturgy Week happened! I was really excited to participate in it, and I really enjoyed reading other posts by my fellow Catholic bloggers :)

Second thing....you may notice that I've made a few changes in the design. This is because, after a long delay, Matthew finished my rebranding! Now my social media banners and RM's blog header match and they look so much more professional. I'm sorry to see my photo collage banner go for this blog, but I feel that this is a step in the right direction :)

Third thing....MY BLOGGER FINALLY CHANGED TO THE NEW FORMAT. At first, I wasn't sure what I thought about it, but the more I use it....I find that I kinda like it. It was pretty easy for me to transition.

Also, a really really big thing is happening either this month or next...it depends on how fast I catch up on things around here....but I'll say nothing more about it at present.

For Working by Candlelight, I wrote 1 post: Catholic Liturgy Week Tag!

For The Rebelling Muse, I wrote 3 posts: Meet the Books (Rose of Culmore), COVER REVEAL: Ships, Secrets and Survivors, and Crash Course in Catholic Liturgy. Future content includes a Camp NaNo wrap-up, a review of Ships, Secrets and Survivors, a post about my social media struggles (because I need help), a review of the TV series The Chosen (it's happening this time!!!), and so much more!

For The Cat in the Barnyard, I wrote no posts.

For Rebellious Writing, I wrote no posts.

For Maidens for Mary, I wrote no posts.

Goal #1 (TWR): After a fast-tracked second edit, TWR has been handed off to the editor!

Goal #2 (Platform): I've officially got my branding stuff! A post is coming about help with the social media branding....

Goal #3 (April NaNo): FINISHED. You can view the completed story on Wattpad HERE.

Goal #4 (NaNo): No progress.

Goal #5 (Movies): We watched 3 new movies! Only 7 more to go!

Goal #6 (Library): No progress. Unfortunately, my state is STILL on partial lockdown due to the you-know-what, so no trips for me......

Goal #7 (Vlogs): FINISHED. You can view the Fandoms one HERE and the Bucket List one HERE.

Next month, I will be taking a break from writing. Well, not completely - I will be catching up on my blogging, which I have sorely neglected during these few months. But my literary children will be set loose to get as much mischief as they please. Maybe then I can get my sanity back. Maybe.

How about y'all? How has July treated you?

Scribbingly yours,

Catherine

  5. Ah, those movies are all so good! The book Guernsey wasn't my favorite, but the movie was awesome (When does that ever happen?)! Aladdin was super fun! This is making me want to rewatch. I've been meaning to watch The Man From U.N.C.L.E. for years. Anytime is the perfect time for Star Wars. :)

    1. ack, right??? From what I understand, the book is a little more content heavy, so I don't plan on reading it anytime soon.
      Oh right??
Just a fair warning, Man from UNCLE does have some brief nudity, and lots of impure references. It's an adult only film, for sure.
      and yassss
