West Side Productions
The West Side Productions Series
This series was created in 2020, as a fanfiction series that retells popular musicals via an amateur group of actors with behind-the-scenes drama and fun twists on the original storylines. I look in the songs from the musical I'm basing my story on for my title inspirations and build my themes from there. All of these stories are published on Wattpad for general consumption - I have no plans on actually publishing this series at this time.
My first book was the Phantom of the Opera retelling Shattered Chandelier, which explored how illusions of hero and villian characters influence our perception of them. The title was taken from the "Why So Silent" musical number, just after the "Masquerade" number.
My second book is the Singing in the Rain retelling Supposing Erroneously. The title was taken from the musical number "Moses Supposes", which is one of my favorite musical numbers of all time. This story is ongoing, so stay tuned on my Wattpad page!
Running from broken pasts, struggling actresses Jessamine Williams and Kestrel Tracy roll into the decaying industry town of Carbon Hill, Ohio in hopes of attaining work through the West Side Theatre Company. Finding parts in the well-loved musical, The Phantom of the Opera, the only troubles the girls expect are the occasional running mascara or a nosy small-towner. But they - and the rest of the zany crew making up the West Side Theatre Company - are suddenly caught up in a mystery...who is sabotaging the efforts to restore the old West Side Theater?
