Musing on November, Hailing December

12:38 AM

Greetings from the cave!

I've always thought that November was a bit of a humdrum month. Things are slowing down, weather is getting colder, and holidays are coming soon. For some reason, I'm looking forward to winter this year - be nice to actually see some snow for a change.

But was November really all that humdrum? Let's find out!

- While Christmas shopping at my favorite Bargain Outlet store, I managed to find not one, not two, but THREE awesome books! They were Wishing on Buttercups by Miralee Ferrell, On Wings of Devotion by Roseanna White, and Keeper of the Lost Cities by Shannon Messenger. I've read the first, and am mid-way through the second. So far, they're pretty good (though I have some mixed feelings about the romance in this second one...)

- I recently watched a TV show that I had earmarked in Prime for a while called Little Men. It was *very* loose retelling of the Louisa May Alcott book. I do like the cast and the plotlines, but I do wish they had been closer to the book because I would have loved to see some of the boy's antics onscreen!

- At the very end of this month, I watched Nicholas Nickelby (2002) free on YouTube. And oh my goodness, what a ride! Firstly, the cast was spectacular (literally, I recognized just about everyone in the film, which NEVER happens). The plot was like...wow, a little intense. But then, what do you expect from Dickens? Oh and speaking of Dickens, it has made me appreciate him again. I have mixed feelings about Dickens, because I like The Christmas Carol a lot and I LOVE Tale of Two Cities. But, I've tried other works like Pickwick Papers and Little Dorrit and just...didn't really get into them? But yes, I highly recommend this film!!

- TWR is currently sitting at 22783 words, which is only a few hundred words more than last month. However, important plot points have been determined, which will hopefully help put more words down.

- This month has been...kinda subpar for music. Except for one song...

Ahem. So, things have been shooken up around here.

I decided, after 5 years, to move my personal blog to a new URL. So what was previously known as Femininity from Scratch in other wrap-ups is now known by it's first blog name Frugally Fancy. I did do one last farewell post in time for my fifth blogoversary: Celebrating Five Years...by Moving to a New Place.

The new blog is called Femininity from Scratch (just like the old one!) and features a completely new and professional design, similar to this blog. While I have imported some of the old posts, I have written two new posts: A Housewarming Party and A Fitting Patroness

In the meantime, The Rebelling Muse has had one post this month: TWR Update: To Be Honest, I'm Frustrated

I have decided to abandon the Goal Milestones for this month's wrap-up (and probably will do so again for December) because of the lack of progress. I'm not really *feeling* the monthly and yearly goals anymore - they feel like New Years Resolutions that just never materialized? I don't know if I will continue this tradition next year or not. I feel like I can't move forward until this debut novel is published. So maybe I should focus my total energy on that and then go from there....

How about you all? How has your November been?

Scribbingly yours,

Catherine

  1. November is a tough one for me, I must admit. It's so DARK, and just cold enough that I never know what to dress the kids in when we go outside, lol!

I have been getting decent writing in, though reading hasn't been great... ah well. Hopefully this month will be better. :)

Thank you so much for sharing that beautiful music! I subscribed to their Youtube channel, how lovely. Even my son was like "ooh, what's THAT" when he heard it. Deo gratias!

I wish you and yours a most blessed Advent!
