Since the first day of 2018
Melissa Gravitis tagged me for this blog hop, which I thank her very much for! You can view her post HERE. Her first post is absolutely beautiful, you must go read it!
The Rules:
1. No cheating. You must highlight your first post. Not your second post, not one you love...the first post only!
2. Link back to the person who tagged you (thank them if you feel like it, or if not, set loose a bunch of ladybugs on them)
3. Cut and past your old post into a new post or reblog your old post. Either way, NO EDITING.
4. Put the hastag #MyFirstPostRevisited in your title.
5. Tag five (5) other bloggers to take up this challenge.
6. Notify your tags in the comment section of their blog (don't just hope they notice a pingback somewhere in their spam).
7. Feel free to cut and past the badge (picture) to use in your post.
8. Include the "rules" in your post.
I'm not including the silly rules, cause I can't do them. My favorite dessert is chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream (which we don't have right now), and there is no place to do cartwheels without knocking down a bunch of stuff on the ground. Don't mean to be a spoilsport, but...just can't. Sorry guys.
Okay....here we go!!
What??? A second blog in less than a year??? Aren't you busy enough with cooking, sewing, and pursing your agricultural dreams???
Well.....
I have a confession to make....
I
Have
A
Muse
And lately, IT HAS REFUSED TO SHUT UP.
To the point where I'm writing poetry spontaneously, writing fan-fiction and character sketches when I should be writing essays.....
And listening to music is starting to become a very dangerous activity......
When I started my first blog, Frugally Fancy, it was with a purpose. I had a lot of personal experiences in my life's journey that I felt that people could enjoy and learn from. I had started creating potential posts ever since my late high school days and finally gathered the courage to put them to the world in November 2016 at the repeated urging of my best friend.
In the short time that I've been blogging, I find that I really enjoy it. It's really encouraging to see people share my ideas around the globe. I'll still blog on Frugally Fancy a lot in the future.
But lately, I've been feeling really, really restless. Because my muse is not satisfied with my non-fiction or even my personal writings.
At heart, I am.....a fiction writer.
Ever since I can remember I have always been fascinated by stories.
God saw fit to bless me with a very vivid and emotional imagination.
He also gave me the talent of writing, and sent numerous teachers and friends to help me refine it.
I've always had a very rebellious muse. It tends to distract me from my schoolwork, disturb my sleep, make me an absolute fool (especially when the ramblings exit my mouth....), and causes me to have unnecessary worry and anxiety. Lately, it's been running a-muck and ignoring my muse has not been working very well.
There really is only one thing to do: harness it for good!!!!
While I doubt that I will publish any full-length novels here, I will share some short stories and some sketches that my muse loves to come up with. In my next post, I'll tell my journey into the writing world.
Oh, there is one more thing before I leave for the night. While I'm known on the online world mostly as Farm Lassie, it doesn't seem a very good writer's name does it?
So, just call me Catherine.
And.....welcome to my writers corner.
My thoughts on my 10-month blogging self:
Wow. I had some pretty pent up emotions at 10:23pm February 16, 2017, I must say!!!
I started this blog literally four months after I started my first blog, then known as Frugally Fancy. I had reached the first of many "burnout-and-frustration" periods that I had with that blog. It was my senior year of college, and my on-again-off-again muse actually was very productive for the first time in two years.
I'll admit the true reason for starting this particular blog was because I was falling out of love with blogging. I mentioned that I was in college right? My blog posts at that point on FF were preachy and essay-like. I felt this distinct "pressure" to create this second blog, especially after seeing the enjoyment that other bloggers had with their writing blogs. I'm almost certain that it was from above :). The feeling of confinement and restlessness, that was real. I needed to have a release, otherwise, I was sure it would kill me. I literally could not sleep that night on February 16 until I finally admitted to the world what I really was.
It was also this post that I started to ditch the "Farm Lassie" pseudonym and started to formally embrace using my true pen name of Catherine Hawthorn. I don't regret it, especially now as I start moving towards a goal of publication :).
From this post, I started on a journey: meeting fellow young authors, which led to finally trying Camp NaNo in July, helping to create the Rebellious Writing movement, my Goodreads account....
Oh! And the picture. I don't think I ever explained this...
This is one of my personal pictures from my favorite beach in the entire world. It's actually a reference to Little Woman. There was a scene in the second half in which Beth and Jo were on a beach, and Beth compared Jo to a gull. I wish I could find the passage, because it was beautiful. Since I'm very much like Jo, I thought it was appropriate to include such a picture. It became my favicon fairly early as well.
Now, to pass it on....
