Hello everyone!
As you can tell from the title....I'm celebrating a very late blogoversary.
My track record for hailing blogoversaries this year was almost non-existent. I missed my personal blog's anniversary due to health reasons. And I would have missed this one, had not my faithful spy hadn't reminded me the night after her own (which you can view HERE).
Taking her advice, I'm keeping it simple and highlighting some of my favorite posts from the three years that I've been blogging here.
Without further ado, let's dive in!
Favorite Aesthetic Post
Seems rather obtuse to put the most recent "aesthetic change" post as the favorite, but this one truly has the best story attached to it. If we consider disasters as being the "best stories", that is.
I'm not quite good at nailing aesthetics just yet, but I'm working on it :)
Favorite Stolen Post
My dear friend Megan Chappie wrote the original to this post and I just HAD to take it. I placed so may hints about all of my stories that I laugh now to read it. I can only hope that when these little literary children grow up that I can look back at that post as a snapshot of their childhood :)
Favorite Personal Post
Repetition seems to find my way into my writing a lot, especially in the 10 areas that are highlighted here. Some are common, some are unique, and some better improve with age because otherwise we have problems.
Favorite Tag Post
Honorable Mention: The Motherly Writer Award
Of all the tags that I've done on this blog, I think the most enjoyable tag was the Get to Know Me Writers Tag. Part of the reason was because, up to that point, I hadn't really revealed that much about myself. As much as I like tags, I find that I repeat myself a lot.....*looks up at last answer*.....I like something different every once in a while.
A close second would be The Motherly Writer Award. I had been watching for the creation of it, especially after the identity crisis that Belle Anne (the creator) and other like-minded authors had after we tried the Evil Author Tag. I *may* have been a little fan-girly in that post.
Favorite Humorous Post
Honorable Mention: Begone Pheasant
Ever have a story that will always set you to laughing? This post is definitely one of them for me. Based on the Heart-Brain comics with a dash of reality thrown in, it made feel better on of the worst starts to Aunt Flo's monthly visits that I've had in a long while.
The latter post was in the same vein, except with a lot more reality thrown in. It also introduced a lot of my crazy family, something that I don't typically do here.
Favorite Writing Help Post
I sort of stole the idea of this one from Julian Daventry. Coming off of a recent stint at a conventional dairy and a historical one before that really helped in the making of this post. A little dash of humor never hurt nothing, either.
Favorite Fandom-Related Post
This was one of my first posts on this blog, and it still remains one of my top posts. It was here that I really found my writing voice and it was definitely my favorite one to write of all time. I mean, who can pass up writing about favorite ships? Certainly not this hopeless romantic.
Favorite WIP-Related Post
This was probably one of my most spontaneous posts. It was one born out of recovery of one of the worst experiences of my life. It came from a place of abandonment, of desire, and of hope for a better future. Whenever this work gets published, I really hope that it has that same poignant touch that this particular snippet has.
Favorite Serious Post
That post was one of the few bright spots during my disasterous grad school career. Another spontaneous post, it documented a chance encounter with a young man who changed my mind about mental illness. This was a human, with hopes and dreams, just like I was. That understanding has helped me even now, as I deal with people in the restaurant business. And it's something that I wish was more prevelant in literature and media - I think it would go a lot further to de-stigmitize mental illness than the current educational strategy.
And that wraps up the post!
And now, I want to hear from you! What sort of content would you like to see here on RM? I'm dying for some new content ideas :) Are there any kinds of posts that I haven't done in a while that you'd like to see again? Chat with me in the comments!
Scribbingly yours,
Catherine
