I'm sorry I haven't been doing a great job of updating you all here on the blog about what's going on with my writing journey. I frankly have been doing a better job of doing that on my newsletter, so if you would like to keep up, please sign up in the sidebar!
Now, to give you an update...
Things have been a bit of a roller coaster. I finished March's FicFrenzy on a strong note, with an end total of 41780 words in The White Rose. But I have discovered a major problem with Janina, one of my main MC's. And that is....that she doesn't seem to tell her own story very well. Once I took the crutch of having the multiple POVs taken away, the sparkle of the story seemed to disappear with it. I didn't realize that so much of Janina's central conflict was revealed by others and not herself. And admittedly, I don't know what to do about this. My alphas have been great brainstorming partners, but...something is still off about this story.
I'm about 20 chapters into this rewrite, and I feel kinda lost. I lost touch with my editor, and to be honest...I don't know if I really want to re-establish contact with her. I could get a new editor, but I don't feel that the draft is complete enough for me to go that route, and I don't feel that I can afford one right now.
So I would like to open up a new beta team. This beta call would only apply to the 20 chapters I've written so far. I know it's been long enough that my previous betas will have trouble remembering the old draft, and that's okay. I'd love to have some new people as well. So, if you like high fantasy, sibling drama, a hint of romance, and want to know what the deuce is up with this whole Karala Games shenanigans, consider signing up here: https://forms.gle/5gueqUsxZUCqTG9C9.
Hope to hear from you soon!
God bless,
Catherine
