Camp NaNo Log - 7/3
2:48 PMA random beach picture so as to not reveal the cover too quickly! |
Thank you all so so much for your positive response to my last post!
Hopefully, I won't bore everyone to death with these daily posts.....😰. I guess that's what I get for being a pendulum.
Anyhoo, on to the main event!
WIP of the Day: Fair Winds
What was I doing:
Revising the blurbs AND creating a brand new mock cover!
(because apparently I never made one....whoops).
So, as to not to confuse people, this is a novel that is split into two volumes. The first volume, Sassy Devil, I wrote back in college, and the second, Fallen Angel, is still a plot bunny, for the most part.
Old Blurb:
Sassy Devil:
Ciara Arlen is left alone with her sister Grace when her father and mother are lost after a bad hurricane. After they are kidnapped and placed on a pirate's ship, Ciara must use her wits to escape...even if it means trusting total strangers.
Fallen Angel:
Ciara has run from the safety of the British Navy and has struck out on her own. Her dingy runs aground on the Carolina coast, and she runs into a tribe of natives.
Yeesh, you can tell just how rushed they were. We can do better than this!
New Blurb:
Sassy Devil:
Ciara Arlen has been ostracized by her community for as long as she can remember - her parents deaths are the final straw to the gossip fire. Anxious to run away from her past, she and her younger sister Grace take up an offer to live with their uncle in America - rashly starting before her uncle's escort can arrive to ensure their safety.
Upon reaching Portsmouth, they meet a stranger with promises to help them reach their uncle's ship. Little did the girls know that they were walking straight into a trap - set by pirates with a grudge against their uncle.
So when another, much more charming and handsome, stranger, attempts to help them escape, Ciara doesn't know what to think. Does she blend into the pirate crew for survival, or does she throw caution to the wind again in an attempt to extradite herself from them?
Fallen Angel:
After running away again, Ciara Arlen has struck out alone in a stolen ship. With the British navy after her, she has little choice left but to head for the Caribbean islands in hopes of gaining a crew.
After a storm throws her onto the island shore of Moreno with little strength left, she is ready to give herself up for lost forever. A native girl - and her extensive tribe - soon force a change of outlook.
Just as Ciara is gaining her confidence back, she spots a British flag on the horizon....and her former lover Colin Raeburn on the beach. Will she run away again, or will she finally repair the bridges that she tried to burn?
That one for Fallen Angel will probably be revised again after I plot out more of the story. Sassy Devil has already been drafted, but Fallen Angel has pretty much nothing, hence the difference in quality....
And now......for the mock cover reveal!

I decided to have one cover for the two volumes for now - whether that will change once it's ready for publication will be decided later!
Sooo....what do you think?
Scribblingly yours,
